Mercy Medical Center offers free cancer screenings

Mercy Medical Center's Mercy Cancer Center is offering free skin cancer screenings Monday, May 14, to promote prevention and early detection of the disease. 

Skin cancer screenings begin at 6 p.m. at Mercy Health Center of North Canton.  Shield M. Wikas, D.O. will perform the screenings. Skin cancer is the most common of all cancers in the United States, with one in five Americans developing skin cancer during their lifetime. In fact, skin cancer accounts for nearly half of all cancers in the United States.

Skin cancer screenings are free, but registration is required. To register, call Mercy’s Healthcare Connection at 330-489-1333 or 800-223-8662. Appointment times fill up quickly. These free screenings are for patients with a specific area or areas of concern. Additionally, this screening is for people not currently under the care of a dermatologist or plastic surgeon.
