Mercy Cancer Center again receives full three-year accreditation with commendation

The American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer has again given Mercy Cancer Center at Mercy Medical Center the highest full three-year accreditation with commendation for a survey conducted in November.

Among bronze, silver and gold levels of commendation, Mercy received the highest gold status for commendation on all seven of the most significant standards. The American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer report also cites full compliance with the other 27 non-commendation standards.

Cancer program surveys are a comprehensive evaluation of the entire scope, organization and activity of a cancer program. A survey is performed every three years by a Commission on Cancer (CoC) surveyor who is trained to evaluate compliance with the CoC eligibility requirements and standards that are required for accreditation.

Mercy Medical Center is a ministry of the Sisters of Charity Health System.
