South Carolina Center for Fathers and Families receives a proclamation from SC governor declaring June as "Fathers Matter Month"

South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster presented a proclamation on June 1 to the South Carolina Center for Fathers and Families declaring June as “Fathers Matter Month.” The governor also presented the center's executive director, Pat Littlejohn, with the Order of the Palmetto, the state's highest civilian honor given in recognition of a lifetime of extraordinary achievement, service and contributions on a national or statewide scale.

At the news conference, the governor recognized the South Carolina Center for Fathers and Families' 20th anniversary and highlighted its mission to bring attention to problems, policy challenge and best practices, then tackle issues that can keep fathers and children apart.

During the news conference, Littlejohn said, "I want to say to those 25,000 fathers and those fathers yet to walk through our doors, thank you for the courage to seek the help, to seek the support that you needed to fulfill the greatest responsibility that you have in life."

The South Carolina Center for Fathers and Families is a ministry of the Sisters of Charity Health System.
