Sisters of Charity Health System and the Sisters of Charity of St. Augustine Honor the Legacy of Senator George Voinovich

The Sisters of Charity Health System and the Sisters of Charity of St. Augustine are deeply saddened by the passing of former Senator George Voinovich on Sunday, June 12th. We extend our deepest sympathies to the Voinovich family and our sisters’ prayers are with the family during this time of mourning. The Senator was a good personal friend to many of our Sisters and to our ministries and we are very grateful that he has so faithfully served our city, state, and our nation. Most importantly, we honor his legacy. Senator Voinovich has touched many lives by his compassionate leadership and forward-looking policies. During his many leadership roles at the local, state and national levels, Senator Voinovich sought policies that were fiscally sound and addressed critical societal injustices in education, health care and other issues that impacted the lives of many. He was an advocate for the marginalized, children and older adults. Senator Voinovich was a transformational leader who helped create needed and enduring social change. The Sisters of Charity Health System was blessed to partner with the Senator on critical public policies around prescription assistance with the passage of Medicare Part D and policies that expanded health access to the uninsured, to name a few. As we remember Senator Voinovich, we celebrate a life lived serving with compassion, courage and collaboration, and acting as a powerful voice for everyone in Ohio.
