Fatherhood program helping father of two young daughters overcome barriers to being a better dad

A father of two young daughters, Thomas Mayfield had a laundry list of barriers when the Georgetown County Dept of Social Services (DSS) recommended that Thomas enroll at A Father’s Place (AFP), a program of the the South Carolina Center for Fathers and Families. South Carolina Center for Fathers and Families stays connected to the fathers it serves

Being a parent isn’t easy. With the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, for many parents – and that includes fathers - this job has gotten harder. Fathers are faced, once again, with higher threats of unemployment and the frustration of not being able to provide for their families. Despite these trying times, the South Carolina Center for Fathers and Families and its six fatherhood organizations across the state haven’t stopped programs and services. Fatherhood program helps father recover from life-changing injury, avoid jail time and get on track to earn GED

Children's Trust of South Carolina highlights South Carolina Center for Fathers and Families fatherhood program

The South Carolina Center for Fathers and Families is a partner of the Children's Trust of South Carolina, which works with Fact Forward to develop programs and services that support pregnant women and young parents ages 15 to 24 across South Carolina. The Man 2 Man fatherhood program, which is a program of the South Carolina Center for Fathers and Families, received a $35,000 grant from the Perdue Foundation that has been helping put fathers to work in the Pee Dee region of South Carolina. South Carolina Center for Fathers and Families to benefit from Men's Wearhouse National Suit Drive

The South Carolina Center for Fathers and Families is again partnering with Men's Wearhouse for the retailer's 12th annual National Suit Drive. The center is one of hundreds of nationwide nonprofit organizations to benefit from the campaign, which provides professional clothing for men re-entering the workforce. Throughout July, Men's Wearhouse will give customers 50 percent off the purchase of select items when they donate gently used suits or other professional attire during the campaign. [More]

The South Carolina Center for Fathers and Families supports six fatherhood programs in 12 communities across the state to strengthen families through fatherhood engagement. Tramaine Johnson first came to one of these programs, Father to Father, in need of help obtaining visitation rights.
