Several ministries of the Sisters of Charity Health System will be participating in the annual online day of Catholic giving in Northeast Ohio. The event is called #weGiveCatholic and happens Tuesday, December 3, which is Giving Tuesday—a national day of giving for nonprofits. Jillian Doherty, a senior from John Carroll University, has been spending her summer interning at Regina Health Center as part of the 2019 Catholic Community Connection Summer Fellows Program. The program is a 10-week internship that offers students from Catholic colleges real-world, paid work experience at Catholic ministries throughout Northeast Ohio.

Regina Health Center has again scored high in the recently released Ohio Department of Aging (ODA) Family Satisfaction Survey for both skilled nursing and assisted living. In the survey for residential care facilities (assisted living), Regina Health Center had a score of 97.4 out of 100, which is the third highest score among 743 total facilities. In the counterpart skilled nursing family survey, Regina Health Center had a score of 91.2 out of 100, ranking 13th among 986 total facilities in Ohio.

The National Association of Directors of Nursing Administration in Long Term Care (NADONA) recently awarded Regina Health Center with its highest honor, the Circle of Excellence Award, at a conference in Las Vegas. The award recognizes Regina Health Center for being one of only a handful of nursing homes in Ohio to receive a deficiency-free survey from the Ohio Department of Health (ODH) in 2018.

Regina Health Center is in the midst of a renovation project to update and beautify all resident rooms and resident gathering spaces in the nursing home portion of the facility, which has been made possible in part by a $1 million matching gift initiative as part of its 25th anniversary renovation campaign. A number of donors have made the matching gift fund possible, including Dr. Elizabeth Macintyre and her husband Dr. Joseph A. Sopko. The highlight of the anniversary celebrations was a gala event in September, where a $1 million matching gift initiative was announced to raise funds for a 25th anniversary renovation campaign. With the help of generous donors, Regina Health Center kicked off the renovation project in early January to update and beautify all resident rooms and resident gathering spaces in the nursing home portion of the facility.
