Mercy Medical Center awarded more than $956,000 for COVID-19 response

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Ohio Emergency Management Agency (Ohio EMA) have awarded $956,059.90 to Mercy Medical Center for federal disaster aid to help respond to the COVID-19 pandemic. Mercy is expanding two operating rooms for negative pressure to prevent airborne spread of the disease and purchasing a COVID-19 Module for molecular testing capabilities to test for COVID in its lab, as well as purchasing a portable X-ray machine. U.S. News & World Report, the global authority in hospital rankings, recently released the 2020-21 Best Hospitals rankings and recognized Mercy Medical Center as one of the top 20 hospitals in Ohio. U.S. News also rated Mercy Medical Center as "high performing" in several areas, including treating chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and hip and knee replacement. [More]

Mercy Medical Center sends recovered COVID patients home with a song

Recovered COVID-19 patients are being serenaded upon their discharge from Catholic hospitals with inspiring tunes. Mercy Medical Center is one of those hospital, and is letting COVID patients pick which song they want to hear as they are heading out. Mercy and some of the songs patients have chosen were mentioned in a Catholic Health World article about music being used to rejoice in the victories of patients who have survived serious or near-fatal complications of the virus and are going home.
