Mercy Medical Center employee honored with Ohio Society for Health Care Facilities Management's Eagle Award

The Ohio Society for Health Care Facilities Management (OSHFM) named Nick Bagnolo, administrative director of support services at Mercy Medical Center and vice president of construction & facilities for the Sisters of Charity Health System (SCHS), as a 2019 Eagle Award recipient. This award recognizes the facility manager who has demonstrated outstanding performance, leadership and made significant contributions in energy efficiency, health care engineering or facilities management. Mercy Medical Center’s Diane Wofsey, nurse navigator with Mercy Breast Care Center, received the Susan G. Komen Northeast Ohio 2019 Leslie’s Angel Award at the Komen Breast Cancer Survivors Symposium. Named in remembrance of breast cancer patient and activist Leslie Jones, the Leslie’s Angel Award recognizes the highest level of volunteerism, teamwork, enthusiasm, leadership and long-term commitment in the fight against breast cancer. Mercy Service League’s 2019 Harvest Ball raises nearly $300,000

More than 350 guests attended the Mercy Service League’s recent 2019 French Connection Harvest Ball at the Alex D. Krassas Center in Canton. The event raised approximately $300,000, with proceeds benefitting the Mercy Facility Transformation Clinical Decision Unit, which will allow Mercy Medical Center to add more private rooms for its patients. Sisters of Charity Health System Signs Letter of Intent for Mercy Medical Center to Join Cleveland Clinic

Cleveland Clinic and the Sisters of Charity Health System today signed a non-binding letter of intent to explore Mercy Medical Center becoming a full member of the Cleveland Clinic health system while maintaining its Catholic identity through sponsorship by the Sisters of Charity of St. Augustine.

The Sisters of Charity Health System, which is the sole member of Mercy Medical Center, and Cleveland Clinic will begin a careful and thorough review to complete the due diligence process that will outline how they will move forward to best meet the health care needs of residents in Stark County and surrounding communities. Mercy Medical Center receives 11th consecutive EPA ENERGY STAR certification

For the 11th consecutive year, Mercy Medical Center has again been awarded the U.S. EPA’s ENERGY STAR certification—one of only three hospitals in the United States, and the only one in Ohio, to earn this designation. Each year the hospital’s main campus, a facility of 1 million square feet that’s a blend of old and new construction, saves nearly $1 million in energy costs. [More]

Mercy Medical Center Cardiac Rehabilitation and Pulmonary Rehabilitation programs have been certified by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR). This certification is recognition of Mercy Medical Center’s commitment to improving the quality of life of patients by enhancing standards of care. Mercy Medical Center honors local EMS

Mercy Medical Center recently hosted its annual appreciation event for local emergency medical squads (EMS). Mercy sponsors this event to recognize EMS personnel for their lifesaving efforts throughout the year. As part of the evening’s activities, Mercy Emergency Chest Pain Center presented its STEMI (St Elevation Myocardial Infarction) Cup award to Green Fire Department for achieving the best “door to balloon” angioplasty time for the first half of 2019.
