The Sisters of Charity Foundation of South Carolina recently awarded $265,450 in Caritas grants for the fall 2018 grant cycle to 75 organizations. Caritas grants are awarded to organizations meeting fundamental needs of individuals and families experiencing poverty in South Carolina.

The Sisters of Charity Foundation of South Carolina recently released its 2018 annual report with a theme of “Shining a light on those making a difference.” In 2017, the foundation awarded 189 grants totaling $3,309,300 million, which is the largest individual grantmaking year since 2001. The Cleveland Central Promise Neighborhood kicked off its #PromiseReads initiative at the Friendly Inn Settlement’s back-to-school rally earlier in August. Promise team members handed out #PromiseReads backpacks filled with school supplies, as well as bookmarks and books from the Kids Book Bank, to encourage reading among families and children. WKYC-TV was there to capture all the excitement.
