St. Vincent Charity opens urgent care location on Cleveland's West Side

St. Vincent Charity Medical Center has opened an urgent care location in Rocky River to treat life's little bumps, bruises and illnesses. There's no need for an appointment. Adults and children age 5 and older can walk in, get treated and get on with their day. The urgent care location also offers telehealth.

The urgent care location at 20220 Center Ridge Rd; suite #120, is part of St. Vincent Charity’s circle of care, which means patients are seen by a highly trained team. If a problem turns out to be more serious, patients have fast, easy access to the St. Vincent Charity flagship campus.

St. Vincent Charity Hospital opens urgent care in Rocky River

St. Vincent Charity Hospital in Cleveland has jumped into the fray on the west side, where Cleveland Clinic and University Hospitals branches and medical centers are almost ubiquitous.

Ashley Bair, director of occupational medicine at St. Vincent, said: “We opened our urgent care center in Rocky River on Jan. 11. We primarily do occupational medicine for company physicals or those who get hurt at work for lesser injuries and urgent care.”

Bair specified that services include blood work, vision exams, chest X-rays and a number of other services that parallel a hospital.

“This is a convenient, off-site location so people don’t have to wait for appointments. Our goal is to never have a patient wait for more than an hour,” she said.

Though the occupational medicine services through companies are the center’s primary focus, Bair said anyone can walk in if care is needed.

“The urgent care side of this location is for local residents,” she said. “They can walk in, and we accept all insurances.”

Located at 20220 Center Ridge Road, the building had some empty offices.

“St. Vincent has been leasing the space for a long time with various doctors,” said Bair. “When doctors moved on, we acquired Dr. Justin Smith. He was most recently at Cleveland Clinic and reached out to us at St. Vincent.”

Bair said they are happy to be in Rocky River and “hope residents take advantage of the services we offer. It is the compassionate people that people have come to know about St. Vincent Charity Hospital.”

Rocky River is the third St. Vincent location in the Cleveland area, with two other urgent care centers located in Solon and downtown Cleveland.

When asked about the prevalence of occupational medicine, Bair said it is very common, “especially now including COVID-19 testing. And as far as companies go, I have never had a company say they have never had an employee with an occupational injury.”

Bair emphasized that walk-ins are welcome, and that patients can always be seen the same day and all services are customizable. She said the hospital is working with the City of Rocky River to put up a sign on the building but, until then, a sign on an easel greets visitors as soon as they walk into the lobby.

The public phone number for the center is 216-937-3910.

St. Vincent Charity Medical Center is a ministry of the Sisters of Charity Health System.
