Sisters of Charity Foundation of Cleveland Good Samaritan Grants now open

In order to respond quickly to the COVID-19 pandemic crisis in communities, this year's Good Samaritan Grants Program from the Sisters of Charity Foundation of Cleveland opens today, April 1, more than a month earlier than in past years. The program will also have an expedited, rolling application process.

  • Good Samaritan grant awards will be prioritized according to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on an organization’s target population or on the organization’s ability to provide necessary and immediate goods and services.
  • Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis; grantees will be notified of grant approval within two weeks of application submission.
  • As in past years, the foundation anticipates the average grant funding of around $5,000 upon application approval.

Organizations must be tax-exempt, non-profit organizations that primarily serve residents of Cuyahoga County. Priority is given to organizations with annual budgets under $1 million.

The Good Samaritan Grants Program was the first initiative founded by the Sisters of Charity Foundation of Cleveland after it was established in 1996. Inspired by the parable of Jesus calling us to be good neighbors, the Good Samaritan program's particular purpose is to support non-profit organizations for which a modest grant would make a difference in continuing to provide necessary and immediate goods and services to individuals living in poverty. The program expresses the important value of the Sisters of Charity of St. Augustine of respecting the dignity of every individual.
