Hope Endures: Sisters of Charity Foundation of Canton 2025 annual report

The Sisters of Charity Foundation of Canton recently released its 2025 annual report, which highlights $3,495,131 in grants distributed in Stark and surrounding counties to more than 50 organizations in three strategic areas: responsive efforts, strategic collaborations and foundation-led initiatives. Marking 30 years in 2026, the foundation has distributed nearly $88 million to organizations reflecting its commitment to uplift the poor and underserved.

Below is a letter from leadership that appears in the annual report. Read the full annual report here

A Letter from Leadership: Hope is a Renewable Option

Hope endures. And isn’t that encouraging? Isn’t that exactly what we need?

The Sisters of Charity Foundation of Canton exists because of hope; a hope rooted in nearly 175 years of service by the Sisters of Charity of St. Augustine. These women found hope in the seemingly hopeless and offered it freely, believing deeply in the healing hands of Jesus Christ and the power of compassionate action.

In 2025, our Foundation continued this legacy by extending hope to nonprofits throughout our community. These organizations, in turn, became beacons of hope for those they serve. Together, we:

  • Funded an overflow shelter when traditional shelter beds were full, striving to ensure no one was left without a place to sleep.
  • Supported mental health services for youth in out-of-school-time programs, helping them stay safe, engaged, and emotionally well.
  • Invested in kindergarten readiness programming, laying the foundation for lifelong success for our youngest learners.
  • And much more.

Each initiative reflects our commitment to uplifting the poor and underserved. Each represents a moment where hope was not just offered but renewed.

As we reflect on last year’s struggles and triumphs, join us in celebrating the hope that endured through challenging times and renewed each day—the hope that fuels our work and lives thanks to the legacy of our Sisters.
