Regina Health Center again named one of the best nursing homes in the country by U.S. News & World Report

Regina Health Center has again been named one of the best nursing homes in the country by U.S. News & World Report. The publication evaluated more than 15,000 homes nationwide in every state and nearly 100 major metropolitan areas. U.S. News has named Regina Health Center a best nursing home multiple times before, including for 2017-18.

To create the list, U.S. News performs an in-depth analysis of data from the federal Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), including data not factored into CMS's star ratings, which is a quality rating system that gives each nursing home a rating of between 1 and 5 stars. U.S. News rated nursing homes "poor" to "top-performing" on a scale of 1 to 5. Nursing home performance was evaluated over time, averaging monthly data over a year with emphasis placed on staffing levels and quality.

“In 2018, Regina Health Center has been celebrating 25 years of providing compassionate, faith-based, high-quality care. Being recognized yet again as a U.S. News Best Nursing Home gives us more to celebrate as the ranking places us in the top tier of nursing homes in Ohio and around the country,” said Regina Health Center Executive Director Mark Yantek. “Regina Health Center also continues to be recognized for quality by maintaining the highest CMS Five-Star Quality Rating and scoring in the top 2 percent of all Ohio nursing homes in the most recent Ohio Department of Aging resident satisfaction survey.”

The U.S. News Nursing Home Finder offers comprehensive information about care, safety, health inspections, staffing and more for nearly every nursing home in the country. With this tool, individuals can easily conduct a customized search for a highly rated nursing home by location, distance, Medicare and Medicaid coverage and size.

U.S. News also added a separate short-stay rehab rating this year. The short-stay rehab rating mirrors how U.S. News rates hospitals for procedures and conditions and assigns nursing homes a rating of high-performing, average or below average. Regina Health Center received a high-performing rating for short-stay rehab.

Only 19% of U.S. nursing homes earned at least one U.S. News badge; some, including Regina Health Center, earned both.

High Resident Satisfaction
In addition to the U.S. News recognition, Regina Health Center received high marks in the most recent biennial resident satisfaction surveys for nursing and assisted living facilities from the Ohio Department of Aging. The statewide average score for resident satisfaction in nursing homes was 77.8 (out of 100). Regina Health Center ranked well above average, scoring 90.3. The statewide average score in assisted living facilities was 85.2. Regina Health Center received a score of 96.26.

“We can say we provide exceptional care, but it’s the opinions of our residents that matter the most,” said Yantek. “On the assisted living side, we rank in the top 1 percent of all facilities in Ohio for resident satisfaction. On the nursing side, we rank in the top 2 percent. Knowing our residents are so happy means we’re truly providing person-centered care that leads to a higher quality of life.”
