South Carolina Center for Fathers and Families partners with Men's Wearhouse for suit drive

The South Carolina Center for Fathers and Families is again partnering with Men's Wearhouse for the retailer's 11th annual National Suit Drive. The center is one of nearly 200 nationwide nonprofit organizations to benefit from the campaign, which provides professional clothing for men re-entering the workforce.

Throughout July, Men's Wearhouse will give customers 50 percent off the purchase of a new suit when they donate gently used suits or other professional attire during the campaign. Donated clothing collected at Men's Wearhouse stores in the Columbia area will be delivered to fatherhood program participants enrolled in job readiness training at one of the center’s six programs with locations in 18 counties across the state.

Many fatherhood participants join one of the center’s programs because they are unemployed and are in need of assistance. The center’s programs prepare the participants to re-enter the job market through job readiness boot camps and employment assistance. A suit gives fatherhood participants a professional look and provides them with an immediate morale boost for job interviews.

The goal for 2018 is to collect 346,167 items of clothing. To contribute to this year's drive, residents in South Carolina can donate: suits and sports coats; dress shirts and collared shirts; sweaters; casual pants; vests; dress shoes; jackets; long coats and rain coats. Women's professional clothing and accessories are also accepted.

Men's Wearhouse is encouraging people to share the #GiveaSuit hashtag on social media.

The South Carolina Center for Fathers and Families is a ministry of the Sisters of Charity Health System.
