Melissa Rogers is senior vice president of finance & chief financial officer at the Sisters of Charity Health System.

Rogers joined the health system in June 1996 as controller, was promoted to vice president in January 2004 and served a one-year term as interim CFO in 2008 before becoming the full-time CFO in 2009. As CFO, Rogers is involved in all aspects of accounting and finance.

As CFO, Rogers is involved in all aspects of accounting and finance. She established a centralized finance function for all foundations and ministries. She expanded the finance team to include expertise in investment management and was a key participant in the establishment of the health system’s master trust, development of the health system investment policy, creation of the health system investment committee and provision of treasury services to the hospitals. She has been a primary contact with banks and capital markets, and supported all four current health system bond issues. Rogers developed consolidated financial reporting for both the health system and obligated group, and has been responsible for quarterly and annual reporting and meetings.

 
Rogers supported the creation of and was the primary staff to the health system’s audit committee, and also developed a system of quarterly financial certifications. She led the healthy system’s community benefit reporting initiative and continues to be actively involved in hospital tax issues. She participated in multiple due diligence reviews, strategic planning initiatives and provided critical support to the change in ownership transaction in 2010.
 
Previously, Rogers was employed by Arthur Andersen LLP in the Chicago and Cleveland offices. As an audit manager, she had regional responsibility for hospital and physician practice clients in northern Ohio and Michigan.
 
Rogers received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Notre Dame in 1988 and earned her CPA designation in Illinois in the same year. Rogers serves on numerous boards and finance committees of the Sisters of Charity Health System and the Sisters of Charity of St. Augustine congregation. She and her husband Thom are active members of St Joseph the Worker Parish in Strongsville, Ohio, and very involved in the schools and activities of their three children.
