St. Vincent Charity Medical Center has been selected as the first hospital in the country to participate in the Pacific Business Group on Health (PBGH) Employers Centers of Excellence Network for bariatric surgery. Sister Ignatia Gavin, CSA honored at Alcoholic Anonymous International Assembly

More than 85,000 people gathered July 2nd – 5th, at the Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) International Assembly in Atlanta. There, Sister Judith Ann Karam, CSA, accepted the 35 millionth copy of the Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous on behalf of the Sisters of Charity of St. Augustine in memory of Sister Ignatia Gavin, CSA, who was commonly referred to as the “angel of Alcoholics Anonymous.” The convention marked AA’s 80th anniversary. More than 50 of caregivers from St. Vincent Charity Medical Center and their families gathered May 3rd to give back to the neighborhood around the hospital at a spring clean up event. Efforts included planting, painting, general grounds keeping and trash pickup. The community rejuvenation was the first event in St. Vincent’s 150 for our 150th community initiative. [More]
