Changes to proposed ACA repeal bill would make health coverage less accessible and affordable for low-income and most vulnerable Americans

The House continues to consider legislation to “repeal and replace” the Affordable Care Act (ACA). The American Health Care Act (AHCA) proposes not only to make major changes to the insurance coverage provisions of the ACA—eliminating the individual and employer mandate, premium tax credits, and cost-sharing subsidies—but also to fundamentally restructure the Medicaid program.The Sisters of Charity Health System maintains its opposition to the AHCA, legislation that would lead to the loss of health coverage for 24 million people.[More]

Officials recently kicked off an expansive awareness campaign on the risks of prescription opioid abuse -- a critical component in the fight against a heroin and fentanyl epidemic that has claimed thousands of lives in Cuyahoga County. The Opioids: Know the Risks (#KnowTheRX) campaign is a collaborative effort among local agencies and organizations, production companies, hospitals – including St. Vincent Charity Medical Center – and media outlets. United Way of Greater Cleveland receives $4.51 million grant to implement social service assessment with four clinical partners, including St. Vincent Charity Medical Center

United Way of Greater Cleveland received a $4.51 million grant from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) to establish the CMS Accountable Health Communities (AHC) Model. Four clinical partners will adopt the model designed to connect patients with social service resources – Cleveland Clinic for primary care and emergency health service, MetroHealth for primary care, emergency health and labor and delivery service, St. Vincent Charity Medical Center for behavioral health service and Care Alliance Health Center for primary care. United Way is one of only two organizations selected in the state of Ohio and one of 32 selected nationally. [More]
