Regina Health Center celebrates 20 years of caring

In the founding days of Regina Health Center in 1993, a new resident, Sister Miriam Therese, CSJ, walked through the front door for the first time, paused, looked around and said to those around her, “We are many congregations coming to Regina Health Center, but we will be one community.” To mark 20 years, Regina Health Center is hosting a 20th anniversary celebration and fundraising gala September 28 at the historic Silver Grille at the Higbee Building in Cleveland. Sr. Cabrini Ferritto honored for her heritage

Sr. Cabrini Ferritto, CSA was recently honored October 5, 2009 at a ceremony held by the City of Cleveland's Italian American Heritage Committee. Sr. Cabrini's story starts in the Blue Rock neighborhood on Cleveland's east side where she was born on April 26, 1932, the daughter of immigrants from Italy's Abruzzo region. Sr. Cabrini entered the Sisters of Charity of St. Augustine (CSA) in 1950. She has served as a teacher and principal in schools across Cleveland, as well as an incredible number of leadership positions within her community and the church. She served 16 years on the CSA Leadership Board of the Sisters of Charity Health System, director of Regina Health Center and Cornerstone Housing and on the board of the National Association of Treasurers of Religious Institutes. Sr. Cabrini has given her life to serving God, her church and her community. When CSA set up a new governance structure in 2007, Sr. Cabrini was one of only three named to share ultimate decision making authority. She is known and respected as a tireless worker who gets things done and makes a real difference. Congratulations, Sr. Cabrini!

Centenarians in area keep up full schedule

102nd birthday party All of her adult life, Georgia Carter cooked for others. In fact, that's how the Akron woman earned her living. She was a personal cook for many years for a prominent physician's family. She was self-taught, didn't use recipes. And her clients were always satisfied. Mrs. Carter has long since put away her apron. In fact, she's been a resident at the Arbors of Fairlawn, a skilled nursing facility, and now has others cooking for her. More...
