Mercy Medical Center named one of nation’s top cardiovascular hospitals for sixth time

Mercy Medical Center has been named one of the nation’s 50 Top Cardiovascular Hospitals by Truven Health Analytics. The study examined the performance of more than 1,000 hospitals by analyzing outcomes for patients with heart failure and heart attacks, and for those who received coronary bypass surgery and percutaneous coronary interventions such as angioplasties. Mercy receives American Heart Association Mission: Lifeline Accreditation and Gold Performance Award

The accreditation program – sponsored by the American Heart Association and the Society of Chest Pain Centers – recognizes centers that meet or exceed quality of care measures for people experiencing the most severe type of heart attack, ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI), in which blood flow is completely blocked to a portion of the heart.
