High schools students pursue medical profession at Providence

Pursuit, Providence Hospitals’ education program for rising high school juniors and seniors in the Midlands is a two-week summer program that gives students opportunity to shadow health care professionals and learn about the medical field first-hand. Only 42 students were chosen out of 100 applicants from Richland, Lexington and Fairfield districts for this year’s Pursuit program.  The program is split into two, two-week sessions, with 21 students participating in each session.... Mercy Medical Center celebrates opening of new ICU

Mercy Medical Center opened its new intensive care unit (ICU) on . This $20.5-million-dollar ICU, a 24-unit ICU is a family-focused, state-of-the-art facility with leading-edge, critical care technology located behind the Mercy Surgery Center. Sisters of Charity Health and University Hospitals sign nonbinding letter of intent

CLEVELAND, Ohio – March 3, 2009 – The Sisters of Charity Health System (SCHS) and University Hospitals (UH) have jointly announced a non-binding letter of intent to modify their existing 50/50 not-for-profit ownership structures of St. Vincent Charity Hospital in Cleveland and Mercy Medical Center in Canton. An equal 50/50 joint venture between SCHS and UH will remain at St. John West Shore Hospital with the addition of UH assuming operations through a new management agreement. [more... [More]
