Mercy Sleep Disorders Center recognized for excellence with American Academy of Sleep Medicine Accreditation

The American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM) has recognized Mercy Sleep Disorders Center for its demonstrated expertise and commitment in treating patients with sleep disorders. This accreditation includes both Mercy Sleep Disorder Centers, located at Mercy Medical Center and Mercy Health Center of Jackson.

This prestigious designation indicates to patients, referring physicians, and other providers, that Mercy is committed to providing sleep disorders patients with the highest quality of care.

Sleep centers accredited by the AASM must demonstrate a commitment to the highest quality of care in the diagnosis and treatment of sleep disorders. AASM accredited facilities have a board-certified sleep medicine physician, who leads a sleep team of trained health care professionals. To become accredited by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, sleep centers must comply with the AASM Standards for Accreditation, the gold standard for patient care in the sleep field. These requirements incorporate the latest diagnostic and treatment advances, and these standards ensure that sleep centers provide high quality, patient-centered care.

About Mercy Sleep Disorders Center
Mercy Medical Center’s fully accredited Sleep Disorders Center has an experienced team of expert, board-certified physicians to evaluate and treat pediatric patients (ages 13 years and older) to seniors.

Overnight sleep testing, which is noninvasive and painless, can diagnose a variety of common sleep disturbances. Mercy Sleep Disorders Center also offers home sleep testing accredited by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine for individuals who qualify. Diagnostic studies are covered by Medicare and most insurance plans.

The sleep labs at Mercy Medical Center and at Mercy Health Center of Jackson feature private, homelike bedrooms, each with a double bed, TV and bathroom. An unobtrusive infrared camera pointed at the bed allows the sleep technician (polysomnographer) to observe the patient’s sleep activity even in complete darkness.
