St. Vincent Charity welcomes new chief operating officer

Shannan D. Ritchie, FACHE, has been appointed chief operating officer of St. Vincent Charity Medical Center. Ritchie joins St. Vincent Charity with nearly two decades of executive leadership in health care. His first day was October 28.

Most recently, he served as interim COO at OhioHealth’s Mansfield and Shelby hospitals and before taking on that role, held the position of system vice president of regional development at OhioHealth.

Ritchie’s accomplishments at OhioHealth include the development and execution of a strategic plan for regional development, implementation of the organization’s strategic partnership agreement with Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center, and oversight of efforts to connect independent hospitals to OhioHealth services and providers.

Murphy, RN, BSN, MSN, FACHE, president & CEO, St. Vincent Charity Medical Center. “He is highly qualified to help our organization transform and strengthen the person-centered care that is the future of Catholic health care.”

Prior to his work with OhioHealth, Ritchie held a number of senior-level executive roles within Cleveland Clinic, including interim president at Lakewood Hospital, where he was also the prior chief operating officer and senior vice president of operations. While at Cleveland Clinic, he also served as vice president for business development for Marymount and South Pointe hospitals.

During his tenure at Cleveland Clinic, Ritchie helped lead critical operational strategies in areas including behavioral health, physician relations and quality and safety.

Ritchie earned his undergraduate and graduate degrees from Ohio University and is certified as a Fellow of American College of Healthcare Executives.
