Chamber of commerce welcomes A Father’s Place fatherhood program to Marion

The Marion Chamber of Commerce recently held a ribbon cutting ceremony at the newest location of A Father’s Place in Marion, South Carolina. A Father's Place is a program of the South Carolina Center for Fathers and Families that works to help more fathers engage with their kids.

At the ceremony, chamber President Deborah Martin welcomed a Father’s Place to the community. Wallace Evans, executive director for a Father’s Place, expressed the organization’s appreciation and talked about the importance of fathers in their children’s life and the opportunities offered by A Father’s Place.

A Father’s Place is a community-based nonprofit designed to strengthen families through father engagement. For more than 15 years, A Father’s Place has focused on helping fathers overcome barriers to being a responsible and involved father with the goal of improving the lives of low-income children by helping parents support them financially and emotionally, Evans said.

The organization has facilities in Marion, Conway, Georgetown, Myrtle Beach and Williamsburg. The South Carolina Center for Fathers and Families is a ministry of the Sisters of Charity Health System.
