Mercy Medical Center opens medical facility in former lodge building

Mercy Medical Center opened its new 19,000-square-foot Mercy Health Center of Massillon to the public August 15 after transforming the former Massillon Moose Lodge into an outpatient health care facility. The site includes an urgent-care center (STATCARE), lab facilities, imaging services and physical therapy.

“This exciting expansion is a very real commitment of dollars and health care resources to patients in this area, as Mercy Medical Center plays an even larger role in health care for western Stark County,” said Thomas E. Cecconi, president and CEO of Mercy Medical Center.

Work on Mercy Health Center of Massillon began in October 2015. The $4 million project included a complete renovation, resurfaced parking lot and landscaping. Some items were able to be repurposed, such as part of the flooring in the expansive physical therapy department.

Mercy is employing nearly 16 full-time and part-time employees at the new center, with STATCARE staffed by two board certified physicians.

Mercy Medical Center is a ministry of the Sisters of Charity Health System.
