Westlake Community Garden ready to sprout at St. John Medical Center

In a joint venture between St. John Medical Center and the city of Westlake, Ohio, local residents will be able to grow their own produce on the grounds of the medical center at the soon-to-open Westlake Community Garden.

The community garden is part of an effort at St. John Medical Center to help improve the health and well-being of the residents in the communities it serves by introducing more healthy food options into their diets.

A limited number of plots are available to Westlake residents for $25 each. The garden is also seeking donations of untreated railroad ties, rain barrels, metal stakes and compost bins.

For more information, contact Westlake Youth Coordinator Madeline Crandall at 440-899-3544 or mcrandall@cityofwestlake.org. See more pictures of the garden here.

St. John Medical Center is a 50/50 joint venture of the Sisters of Charity Health System and University Hospitals.
