Two school nurse partners of Healthy Learners honored at SC School Nurse Convention

Patsy Lewis and Kim Ward, school nurses in Georgetown County, South Carolina and partners of Healthy Learners, were honored at the annual SC School Nurse Convention in late January.

Patsy Lewis, school nurse at Maryville Elementary School, was named SC School LPN of the Year. Kim Ward, Georgetown Middle School nurse, was a nominee for SC School RN of the Year. Lewis and Ward were selected at the local level by their school nurse colleagues and nominated by Laura Tucker, lead nurse for the Georgetown County School District.

School nurses are important partners for Healthy Learners and vital to its mission because they maintain a major role in service delivery. School nurses identify children in need of Healthy Learners services based on school health screenings or teacher or parent requests, and then refer children to Healthy Learners. Healthy Learners congratulates Patsy Lewis and Kim Ward, and salutes all school nurses.

Healthy Learners is a ministry of the Sisters of Charity Health System.
