Providence Hospitals encourages people to ‘take heart’ for American Heart Month

Providence Hospitals is offering free events, easy health tips, heart-healthy cooking demonstrations and more to celebrate American Heart Month throughout February.

Each February, the American Heart Association (AHA) launches a campaign to educate the public about how to have a healthy heart, recognize the signs of stroke and heart attack, and lower their heart disease risks. The AHA will celebrate 50 years of American Heart Month this year,

Events at Providence Hospitals in Columbia, South Carolina, include:

  • Menopause and Heart Disease – Thursday Feb. 20, 6:30 p.m. at the South Carolina Heart Center. Call 1-877-256-5381 to register.
  • WomenHeart support group meeting – Tuesday, Feb. 25, 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Partnering with WomenHeart, Providence Hospitals will host a support group meeting at the South Carolina Heart Center. WomenHeart is a national organization that offers a variety of support options to the 42 million women in the United States living with heart disease.

Providence Hospitals is also offering free recipes with plenty of healthy food choices that are easy to make and taste great.
