SPARK Ohio featured in January issue of Ohio Family Magazine

SPARK Ohio (Supporting Partnerships to Assure Ready Kids), a family-focused intervention to prepare children for kindergarten, is featured in the January issue of Ohio Family Magazine. The article, “Getting Ready for the new Kindergarten: What’s changed since you started school and how to prepare” highlights how SPARK is addressing the need for readiness by coming directly to the families of preschool-age children. The article, on pages 10 and 11 of the magazine, also showcases the success SPARK children have had on Kindergarten Readiness Assessment of Literacy (KRA-L) testing and how the children maintain their advantage through the fifth grade.

SPARK is a family-focused kindergarten-readiness program that works collaboratively with families, schools, and the community. Each month, children receive a new book, a lesson activity, and educational supplies, and participate in home- or group-based learning opportunities—all with the goal of increasing the child’s success in school and life.

SPARK Ohio is supported by the Sisters of Charity Foundation of Canton, which is a ministry of the Sisters of Charity Health System.
