Cleveland Leadership Center selects health system employees for leadership programs

The Cleveland Leadership Center has selected Shannon Fogarty Jerse, deputy general counsel for the Sisters of Charity Health System and general counsel to St. Vincent Charity Medical Center, to participate in the Leadership Cleveland class of 2016. Sisters of Charity Foundation of Cleveland helps advance plan to prevent and end youth homelessness in Cuyahoga County

The Sisters of Charity Foundation of Cleveland is committed to ending homelessness, and has recently focused on the issue of youth homelessness through a collaborative effort. Cuyahoga County’s A Place 4 Me initiative is a partnership of the YWCA of Greater Cleveland, Sisters of Charity Foundation of Cleveland, Cuyahoga County Division of Children and Family Services, FrontLine Service and the Jim Casey Youth Opportunities Initiative. Throughout a 10-month period in 2014 and 2015, the partners of A Place 4 Me engaged nearly 70 individuals from 30 partner agencies to create a strategic plan to prevent and end youth homelessness in Cuyahoga County. Mercy Medical Center lab achieves reaccreditation from College of American Pathologists

The College of American Pathologists (CAP) recently awarded Mercy Medical Center Pathology and Laboratory Medicine its Cycle 2 CAP 15189 designation, a reaccreditation based on the quality standards outlined by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). Mercy was the first hospital in Northeast Ohio to achieve CAP 15189 accreditation in 2011. [More]

Sister Ignatia Gavin, CSA honored at Alcoholic Anonymous International Assembly

More than 85,000 people gathered July 2nd – 5th, at the Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) International Assembly in Atlanta. There, Sister Judith Ann Karam, CSA, accepted the 35 millionth copy of the Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous on behalf of the Sisters of Charity of St. Augustine in memory of Sister Ignatia Gavin, CSA, who was commonly referred to as the “angel of Alcoholics Anonymous.” The convention marked AA’s 80th anniversary.
