The Cleveland Central Promise Neighborhood awarded scholarships to 12 scholars in East Tech High School’s graduating class of 2018 in a May 11 awards ceremony, offering a boost to get them started on the next step of their education journey. The East Tech scholars received a total of more than $2 million in scholarship awards from across the community.

The board of directors of the Sisters of Charity Foundation of Cleveland recently approved $345,000 in grants for the first quarter of 2018. Funding for this quarter is concentrated primarily around efforts to end homelessness, as well as to continue to strengthen the community’s resources through collaboration and partnerships. These grants support a wide range of essential organizations whose programs and initiatives serve to combat many of poverty’s root causes.

The Cavaliers honored historic African American astronauts and other black pioneers in space travel during the halftime ceremony.
