Mercy Medical Center employee honored with Ohio Society for Health Care Facilities Management's Eagle Award

The Ohio Society for Health Care Facilities Management (OSHFM) named Nick Bagnolo, administrative director of support services at Mercy Medical Center and vice president of construction & facilities for the Sisters of Charity Health System (SCHS), as a 2019 Eagle Award recipient. This award recognizes the facility manager who has demonstrated outstanding performance, leadership and made significant contributions in energy efficiency, health care engineering or facilities management. Foundation Innovation Mission fellow named a 2019 Cleveland City Champion by The Plain Dealer

Hazel Remesch, supervising attorney at Legal Aid and a founder of the Housing Justice Alliance, has been named a 2019 Cleveland City Champion for her work to ensure fairness for low-income people who face housing instability. Remesch was one of five fellows of The Innovation Mission, a program of the Sisters of Charity Foundation of Cleveland that helped the fellows develop innovative ideas aimed at breaking down specific barriers faced by low-income families. Annual #WeGiveCatholic online crowdfunding event happens December 3

Several ministries of the Sisters of Charity Health System will be participating in the annual online day of Catholic giving in Northeast Ohio. The event is called #weGiveCatholic and happens Tuesday, December 3, which is Giving Tuesday—a national day of giving for nonprofits. By designating St. Vincent Charity Medical Center, Joseph’s Home, Regina Health Center and Light of Hearts Villa, any gifts you contribute will benefit these ministries directly and place them in the running to receive cash prizes and secure matching gifts. Mercy Medical Center nurse navigator receives Susan G. Komen Leslie’s Angel Award

Mercy Medical Center’s Diane Wofsey, nurse navigator with Mercy Breast Care Center, received the Susan G. Komen Northeast Ohio 2019 Leslie’s Angel Award at the Komen Breast Cancer Survivors Symposium. Named in remembrance of breast cancer patient and activist Leslie Jones, the Leslie’s Angel Award recognizes the highest level of volunteerism, teamwork, enthusiasm, leadership and long-term commitment in the fight against breast cancer. Sister Helen Therese Scasny, SC, and her community of bees raise money for Light of Hearts Villa fund

Sister Helen Therese Scasny, SC, began beekeeping in 2013 on the property of the Sisters of Charity of Cincinnati home in Bedford, Ohio, not far from Light of Hearts of Villa. She gives profits from sales of honey to the Sr. Helen Scasny, SC, Benevolent Fund at Light of Hearts Villa, which assists residents who have outlived their financial recourses. [More]

South Carolina Center for Fathers and Families program uses $35,000 grant to help put fathers to work

The Man 2 Man fatherhood program, which is a program of the South Carolina Center for Fathers and Families, received a $35,000 grant from the Perdue Foundation that has been helping put fathers to work in the Pee Dee region of South Carolina. Joseph's Home and musical partner Access Music featured in The Plain Dealer
