The collective efforts, services and grantmaking of the Sisters of Charity Health System directly or indirectly benefitted 1.3 million people in 2024. Each day, thousands of people feel the loving touch of the caregivers of the health system and its ministries. The 2024 Ministry and Foundation Impact Report: “Sisters of Charity Health System by the Numbers” provides an overview of the impact of the health system's work.

Sisters of Charity Foundation of Canton spotlights grantee that provides free, "imperfect" local produce

"Imperfect" produce that doesn’t meet grocery store standards is still perfectly good (and healthy) to eat. A Whole Community, Inc. in Wayne County near Canton has partnerships with local farms that allow the non-profit to acquire “seconds” produce at reduced costs for its Community Food Project. The Sisters of Charity Foundation of Canton has supported the food project in recent years. The program provides free, fresh produce to underserved individuals and families.

Joseph & Mary's Home dedicates relocated and renovated Joseph's Home medical respite facility

Joseph & Mary's Home recently hosted nearly 75 supporters and staff for the blessing and dedication of the relocated Joseph's Home space. When residents move in later in August, Joseph’s Home will be a modernized and 100% handicapped accessible medical respite facility for 11 male residents. Diocese of Cleveland Auxiliary Bishop Michael G. Woost performed the blessing.

Women Religious Archives Collaborative breaks ground on Heritage Center in Cleveland's Central neighborhood

The new $22 million Women Religious Archives Collaborative (WRAC) Heritage Center in Cleveland broke ground on July 22. Once completed in spring 2027, it will be one of four collaborative repositories in the country that will hold the archives of Catholic sisters. The new 30,000-square-foot heritage facility will rise at 2490 E. 22nd St. in Cleveland’s Central neighborhood, across from the Sisters of Charity Health System headquarters.

Crain's Cleveland Business features news about Goodwill Opportunity Center on grounds of former St. Vincent Charity Medical Center

Announced on Thursday, July 10, Goodwill Industries of Greater Cleveland and East Central Ohio has been named the initial partner to redevelop two acres of the former St. Vincent Charity Medical Center site into a Goodwill Opportunity Center. The partnership marks a step for the Sisters of Charity to reactivate the space and serve Cleveland's Central neighborhood. Crain's Cleveland Business wrote an article about the news and about the larger picture of the health system campus.

Goodwill and Sisters of Charity Health System explore new Opportunity Center in Cleveland’s Central neighborhood

Goodwill Industries of Greater Cleveland and East Central Ohio and the Sisters of Charity Health System are exploring an exciting new collaboration aimed at further uplifting Cleveland’s Central Neighborhood. The centerpiece of this potential partnership is a proposed Goodwill Opportunity Center, to be located on the former grounds of St. Vincent Charity Medical Center. The proposed Center will serve as a dynamic resource—not only for Goodwill’s mission-based programs—but also for additional community agencies, creating greater access to vital social services for the residents of Central and the broader Cleveland community.

The newest edition of Villa Voices, which is the bi-annual newsletter of Light of Hearts Villa, highlights all that's been happening over the past several months.
