Sisters of Charity Foundation of Canton awards grants totaling $1,520,003

The Sisters of Charity Foundation of Canton Board of Directors has announced $1,520,003 in grants for the first and second quarters of 2025. Grants were awarded in three strategic areas: Responsive Efforts with a commitment to respond to specific or short-term community needs; Strategic Collaborations with work alongside others to launch programs that build capacity and increase effectiveness in community services; and, Foundation-Led Initiatives, which are efforts to develop and hone programs focused on systemic change.

ideastream public media highlights Women Religious Archives Collaborative Heritage Center in Cleveland

The new $22 million Women Religious Archives Collaborative (WRAC) Heritage Center in Cleveland is scheduled to break ground later in June near the St. Vincent Charity Health and Healing Hub. The Sisters of Charity of St. Augustine is one of the founding member congregations. Housing the archives of more than 75 congregations of women religious in a state-of-the art facility, WRAC will make them accessible for research in person and online. It will also present public exhibits and events, and interactive digital programs, that honor the unique contributions of women religious to their communities and the country.

Sr. Marian Durkin, CSA, joins Ideastream Public Media to discuss the selection of Pope Leo XIV

Sister Marian Durkin from the Sisters of Charity of St. Augustine recently joined a panel of fellow Northeast Ohio Catholics on the "Sound of Ideas" show on Ideastream Public Media to talk about the selection of Pope Leo as the new pope. They discussed how the choice is impacting the church and what it means to have a pope from the Midwest leading the global church.

Sisters of Charity Foundation of South Carolina distributes $1.2 Million in grants

The Sisters of Charity Foundation of South Carolina recently awarded grants to 93 nonprofit organizations working to reduce poverty in the state. Totaling $1,287,000, the grants support organizations that serve all 46 South Carolina counties. The funded nonprofits address a wide variety of issue areas, including affordable housing, healthcare access, food insecurity, legal representation, education and economic mobility.

The Sisters of Charity Health System joins Catholics around the globe in celebrating the election of Pope Leo XIV — the first American pontiff in history. We offer our support and prayers to Pope Leo XIV as he embarks on his ministry as the new leader of the world's Catholics. We will look to the Holy Father to help guide our work in caring for those we have been called to serve.

A Father's Place receives $95,000 grant to prepare young men for fatherhood and life

A Father’s Place (AFP), which is a program of the South Carolina Center for Fathers and Families, received a $95,000 grant in March from Power:Ed, the philanthropy of SC Student Loan Corporation. The grant supports AFP’s Reality Check Program, which actively engages both current and yet-to-be fathers in a conversation about making smart choices for their future.

Work of Healthy Learners highlighted in Index-Journal article

The Index-Journal in Greenwood, South Carolina, recently highlighted the work of Healthy Learners as it serves students from K4 through 12th grade across the state, collaborating with school nurses, health care providers and families to assist children who lack adequate access to health care.
