NEW BOARD OFFICERS NAMED

CLEVELAND, Ohio/January 20, 2006 - Terrence P. Kessler, a partner with the Canton, Ohio law firm of Black, McCuskey, Souers & Arbaugh, has been appointed by the Members as Chair of the Sisters of Charity of St. Augustine Health System (CSA Health System) Board of Directors. Mr. Kessler replaces Sr. Mary Patricia Barrett, CSA who had chaired the Board since 1989. The announcement of new Board officers was made by CSA Health System President & CEO Sr. Judith Ann Karam, CSA.
Established by the Sisters of Charity of St. Augustine (CSA) in 1982, the Cleveland-based CSA Health System serves Cleveland and Canton, Ohio, and Columbia, South Carolina through four foundations, five hospitals and several health and social service organizations and programs.
"After 16 years of service to the Board, Sr. Mary Patricia has retired as Chair but will continue her role with the CSA Health System as Special Assistant to the President & CEO and Archivist," Sr. Judith Ann said. "We are so very grateful for her leadership, vision and grace and appreciate Terry's willingness to serve the Board in this important ministry position," Sr. Judith Ann said.
Mr. Kessler has served on the CSA Health System Board since October 1998 including two terms as Vice Chair and was a member of the Sponsorship Task Force and the Executive, Mission and Values and Governance committees. He served as Chair of the Mission and Values Committee.
He joined Black, McCuskey, Souers & Arbaugh in 1975 and became a partner there in 1980. Mr. Kessler has served as President of the Stark County Bar Association and President of the Catholic Charities Advisory Board in the Diocese of Youngstown. He is also active with the United Way of Greater Stark County and is Secretary of the Canton Civil Service Commission. He is a graduate of Yale University and a cum laude graduate of The Ohio State University College of Law.
The additional new officers were elected by the Board on December 12th to a two year term beginning January 1, 2006. They are the following:
Albert DeGulis will serve as Vice Chair following two terms as Treasurer. He is Senior Vice President & Portfolio Manager at Alliance Capital Management in Cleveland, Ohio. He joined the company, one of the world's largest investment management firms, in 1981. Mr. DeGulis was formerly Vice President/Manager of the Trust Investment area at Central National Bank where he had worked since 1959. Early in his career he received the designation of Chartered Financial Analyst. He currently is an officer of the Cleveland Society of Security Analysts. Mr. DeGulis has been a member of the CSA Health System Board since November 2000. In addition to being Chair of the Investment Committee, he sits on that Board's Finance, Audit and Executive Committees.
Mr. DeGulis earned a Masters of Business Administration degree from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. A magna cum laude graduate of John Carroll University, he has been a member of the University's Board since 1996. He recently received John Carroll's Alumni Service Award and currently chairs the Board's Development Committee.
John M. Stover, CPA of Columbia, South Carolina is Treasurer for the CSA Health System Board. After 37 years with the Columbia accounting firm of C.C. McGregor & Company, he retired in 1997. He joined the firm in 1960 and was elected to partnership six years later. He was elected Managing Partner in 1984. Mr. Stover has served on the CSA Health System Board since July 2001, most recently chairing the Audit Committee.
Mr. Stover is a graduate of the University of South Carolina and is active in several civic and professional organizations. A member of local, state and national CPA associations, he was Board Chair for the South Carolina Board of Accountancy from 1988 to 1990 and served one year as President of the South Carolina Association of CPAs. He now serves on the city Board of BB&T Bank located in Columbia.
For several years, Mr. Stover served on the Board of Providence Hospitals in Columbia. He served as Chair of the Board from 1991 to 1993. Mr. Stover is also a member of the Providence Heritage Society.
Sr. Mary Ann Andrews, CSA will serve a second term as Secretary. She is a member of the Core Team for Centering Space a new ministry of the Sisters of Charity of St. Augustine located in Lakewood, Ohio. In 2004, she retired as Judge on the Tribunal of the Diocese of Cleveland and continues to work as a consultant in Canon Law. From 1996 until 1998, she served as President & CEO of the CSA Health System. Sr. Mary Ann was a member of the General Council of the Sisters of Charity of St. Augustine from 1986 to 1993 and 1970 to 1976. She was an Adjunct Instructor in Canon Law at St. Mary Seminary in Cleveland from 1981 to 1985.
A graduate of Notre Dame College with a bachelors degree in dietetics, she worked as a registered dietitian following an internship at St. Mary's Hospital/Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. Sr. Mary Ann holds a Masters degree in Church Administration and a Licentiate in Canon Law from The Catholic University of America. She is currently a Board member of UHHS/CSAHS - Cuyahoga and serves as one of three Sisters of Charity who are the Members of the CSA Health System.
