Building Healthy Communities – Cleveland, OH
Co-sponsored by the Sisters of Charity Health System, RPM, Inc., Cuyahoga Community College/Metro Campus, Cleveland City Council, Arbor Park Village and St. Vincent Charity Hospital.
Since 2003, this resident-driven project has prioritized problems and reviewed available assets to determine resources needed to implement responsive strategies. Results to date include the establishment of Scout troops, a summer co-ed T-ball/baseball league for youths, health education seminars and production of a parents resource guide.
The Health Advocacy Program is a related effort of St. Vincent Charity Hospital involving grassroots individuals who are employed and trained by the Hospital to regularly visit their neighbors, assess their health needs and match them to needed health and/or social services.
