The establishment of Regina Health Center in 1993 marked the beginning of a formal ministry to the elderly by the Sisters of Charity of St. Augustine.  The Sisters renovated their Motherhouse (Mount Augustine) in Richfield, OH to establish the facility in response to the needs of increasing numbers of aging religious.

Situated on a 240-acre campus, Regina Health Center offers a special blend of medical and spiritual elder care services that sets it apart from other long-term centers.  A full range of in-patient and outpatient geriatric rehabilitation services are available to retired members of 22 religious congregations, diocesan clergy, and lay men and women from across northern Ohio. Private and semi-private rooms include assisted living, intermediate care, skilled nursing, and a special care unit for persons with some forms of dementia.

In 2001, the Sisters of Charity Health System and the Sisters of Charity of Cincinnati (OH) began an innovative collaboration to enhance elder services in northeast Ohio.  The two organizations jointly own Light of Hearts Villa, a residential care center opened in Bedford, OH by the Vincentian Sisters of Charity in 1989.  The Sisters of Charity of Cincinnati and the Sisters of Charity of St. Augustine share sponsorship of the facility.
