Independent Physician Solutions

Independent Physician Solutions offers Northeast Ohio independent physicians a continuum of services, including revenue cycle management, electronic medical records (EMR), managed care contracting, professional liability insurance and a suite of a la carte consulting services for practice operations and financial management, such as employee benefits and practice management.

Established by the Sisters of Charity Health System in 2010, Independent Physician Solutions is a for-profit subsidiary of St. Vincent Charity Medical Center. Responsibility for back-office functions and personnel charged with billing, EMR training and help desk support are managed by Medic Management LLC, an experienced and leading provider of management, operational and financial health care consulting services to private practices and hospital-employed and affiliated physicians.

Through a unique market arrangement with GE Healthcare, Independent Physician Solutions offers General Electric’s Centricity® Practice Solution. The technology positions independent medical practitioners to demonstrate meaningful use in order to receive federal incentives as well as provide them with efficiencies and other benefits of practicing in an electronic environment.

Independent Physician Solutions allows independent medical practitioners to maintain independence while keeping pace with larger, affiliated practices and meeting the new technology requirements mandated under the Affordable Care Act.

Mercy Medical Center Names Interim President & CEO

Mercy Medical Center has announced the appointment of Paul C. Hiltz, FACHE, as interim CEO. He will join Mercy Medical Center on July 24. His appointment will allow a smooth transition of leadership following the recent announcement of president and CEO Thomas E. Cecconi’s retirement plans at the end of this year. Cecconi will remain with Mercy through December as president emeritus, and will assist in the leadership transition, as well as support Mercy in its community, development and medical staff relations. Letter opposing Senate ACA replacement from Sisters of Charity CEO and other local health care leaders published in Crain’s Cleveland Business

The Sisters of Charity Health System has repeatedly voiced its opposition to the versions of legislation in both the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act. Health system President and CEO Tom Strauss joined four other Medicaid providers in Ohio in writing a letter to U.S. Sen Rob Portman opposing the Senate’s ACA replacement bill. Sisters of Charity statement on Ohio House of Representatives decision to maintain Medicaid freeze veto

The Sisters of Charity Health System commends the Ohio House of Representatives for not overriding the Governor John Kasich’s veto of a state budget provision that would have frozen Medicaid expansion enrollment. The Kasich administration had estimated that 500,000 low-income Ohioans would lose health coverage within 18 months of a Medicaid freeze.[More]
