Fall Fest is the largest annual fundraiser for Light of Hearts Villa. The event began in 1989 and takes place each October as a celebration of the ministry’s mission as residents, families, friends and staff come together to raise money to benefit the Sr. Helen Scasny,SC Benevolent Fund, which provides for those residents who outlive their financial resources. Fall Fest draws a crowd to Light of Hearts Villa

The 28th annual Fall Fest at Light of Hearts Villa in Bedford featured a pumpkin patch, crafts, raffles and dinner. The popular, family-friendly event attracted a large crowd, including some Villa residents and their families or guests, once again.

Those entering the Villa passed by the pumpkin patch where pumpkins, gourds and flowers could be purchased. It also was a popular spot for youngsters to pose for photos.

Inside, one gathering room was overflowing with offerings from vendors and crafts people. Shoppers could choose from fall wreaths, door swags, holiday décor, jewelry, accessories and handmade knitted and crocheted items made by Villa residents.

Some visitors took time to view the large exhibit of angels, a longtime attraction at the Villa. The angels are housed in a long display case in the hallway off the main entrance.

The auditorium was filled three times with different seatings for dinner, which consisted of turkey, pork loin, stuffed cabbage, potatoes, vegetables, salad, beverage and dessert.

There were several tables filled with raffle items, including sports-themed baskets, entertainment items, a money tree, and more. Additional raffle items were on the stage, including a new bicycle  and pet-themed baskets.

For those hoping to get a head start on their holiday shopping, a Christmas Corner offered ornaments, Christmas décor, candles, accessories, books and more.

Betty Hickle, Villa executive director of the Villa, said there was a new feature this year: a tribute station. For a $100 donation, visitors could honor someone special in their lives such as a family member, a Sister of Charity or a caregiver by filling out a form and dropping it off.

Visitors could tour the Villa, as well.

Proceeds from Fall Fest will benefit the Sister Helen Scasny, SC Benevolent Fund, which provides assistance to residents who have exhausted their financial resources and are in need of the Villa’s care and services.

“We are devoted to providing premier senior residential living and community outreach services. Through our faith-based values, we affirm the integrity of each person and encourage them on their journey of aging,” Hickle said.
