24-hour online giving event May 3 to benefit South Carolina nonprofits

The Central Carolina Community Foundation is presenting its third regional day of giving in the Midlands of South Carolina Tuesday, May 3 with its 24-hour giving challenge, Midlands Gives—and two ministries of the Sisters of Charity Health System are participating: Healthy Learners and the South Carolina Center for Fathers and Families.

Midlands Gives is an online giving event that provides nonprofits the opportunity to gain exposure to and start relationships with new donors, and for people in the Midlands of South Carolina to come together and raise as much money as possible for local nonprofits. In just two years, Midlands Gives has generated $2.25 million in gifts for the Midlands community.

Donations to participating nonprofits May 3 will be magnified with bonus funds from generous sponsors. Visit MidlandsGives.org Tuesday from midnight to 11:59 p.m. Click on these links to donate to Healthy Learners and/or the South Carolina Center for Fathers and Families. Donations can be made to multiple organizations with a minimum contribution of $20.

Donations can also be made in person at the Midlands Gives headquarters at the new Spirit Communications Park at BullStreet in Columbia, South Carolina, home of the Columbia Fireflies baseball team. The event will be open to the public with free admission, featuring online giving stations with live assistance; concessions; games; evening entertainment by the Heart ‘n Soul band; a noon pitching contest featuring mayors from around the Midlands; and a “nonprofit marketplace” where residents can meet the staff and volunteers of several participating charities in a festive, family-friendly environment.

Healthy Learners and the South Carolina Center for Fathers and Families are ministries of the Sisters of Charity Health System.
