SCHS chief procurement officer exceeds savings goal

The Sisters of Charity Health System and its chief procurement officer, Andy Motz, were featured in a recent issue of THE SOURCE, a quarterly magazine published by Health Trust that contains stories about industry issues, best practices, member case studies and more.

Motz and the health system were featured for efforts to reduce costs by consolidating equipment and service purchases at its four wholly owned hospitals. In July 2013, the health system switched to a new group purchasing organization (GPO), Health Trust, for medical device sourcing, supply chain management and group purchasing. The health system saved $10.7 million in the first 15 months of its membership in Health Trust.
