Providence Hospitals recognized for being fit-friendly worksite

The American Heart Association has recognized Providence Hospitals as a Gold Fit-Friendly Worksite for helping employees eat better and move more.

To achieve gold level, employers must offer physical activity support, provide healthy eating options at the worksite, promote a wellness culture, and implement at least nine criteria as outlined by the American Heart Association in the areas of physical activity, nutrition and culture.

Providence Hospitals offers employees healthy options in the cafeteria, encourages employees to take the stairs and offers Fit-Bit activity trackers at a discount for employees.

“Physical activity and employee wellness are significant initiatives at Providence Hospitals,” said Carmen Wilson, director of health & wellness at Providence. “We are honored and excited to be recognized by the American Heart Association as a Gold Fit-Friendly Worksite and are committed to providing a healthy workplace environment.”

The Fit-Friendly Worksites program is designed to act as a catalyst for positive change in the American workforce by helping worksites make their employees’ health and well-being a priority.
