Exhibit installed in Richfield celebrates historical contributions of Catholic sisters in Northeast Ohio

In a fitting tribute to the stories of Catholic sisters from all communities that have ministered in Northeast Ohio, the Sisters of Charity Foundation of Cleveland has permanently installed Progress & Promise: Sisters Serving Northeast Ohio at Regina Health Center in Richfield, Ohio.

Progress & Promise is the local component of the nationally renowned exhibition Women & Spirit: Catholic Sisters in America. Created by the Leadership Conference of Women Religious in 2009, Women & Spirit shares the historical contributions of Catholic sisters in the United States through a comprehensive exhibition of stories and artifacts, as well as an accompanying documentary. The Progress & Promise exhibit appeared in 2010 as the local piece of Women & Spirit during its historic visit to Cleveland, which was one of only eight cities nationwide selected as part of its one-time tour across the country. Progress & Promise then went on tour throughout Northeast Ohio to continue to tell the story of women religious and their contributions to the growth of this region.

The new permanent home of Progress & Promise was unveiled at an official blessing and dedication ceremony at Regina Health Center on November 13. The Most Reverend Roger W. Gries, OSB, auxiliary bishop emeritus of the Diocese of Cleveland, opened the ceremony with a blessing of the exhibit space.

The Sisters of Charity Foundation of Cleveland selected Regina Health Center because it is a unique national model for the compassionate care for elderly women and men religious and priests throughout the Diocese of Cleveland and beyond. It represents many congregations, but one community.
