Mercy Medical Center releases 2013/2014 report to the community

Mercy Medical Center recently released its 2013/2014 report to the community, highlighting the hospital’s accomplishments over the past year and its commitment to improving health care and introducing medical advances to Stark County and surrounding counties.

In 2013, Mercy’s accomplishments included:

  • Nearly $24 million in community benefit
  • New adult and pediatric therapy services at Mercy Health Center of Jackson
  • Low-cost, low-dose lung screenings and MRI-guided breast biopsies
  • 12 new Mercy physicians who are now providing increased access to health care for patients in Canton, Alliance, Plain Township, Jackson Township and beyond
  • Many noteworthy accomplishments by employees and volunteers
  • Numerous awards and achievements from Mercy’s centers of excellence and other departments
  • Extensive community education and outreach initiatives

Mercy expects to complete a major expansion and renovation of its emergency department by September, which is one additional way Mercy continues to provide the latest in quality care. The mission and ministry of Mercy benefited in 2013 from the gifts of its many donors and supporters, who gave more than $1.5 million to the Mercy Development Foundation.

“As Mercy moves forward in 2014, we are certain of this: people need quality, compassionate, affordable and accessible health care, and Mercy will offer it with the help and support of our physicians, staff members, volunteers and community. Working together, we can provide even greater benefits of lasting value that will touch more lives than ever before,” said Thomas Cecconi, president & CEO, Mercy Medical Center.

Mercy Medical Center is a ministry of the Sisters of Charity Health System.
