St. Vincent Charity Medical Center counts down to its 150th anniversary

St. Vincent Charity Medical Center recently unveiled a campaign to count down to the official kickoff of its 150th anniversary celebration, premiering a new video and introducing the social media campaign #STV150.

The yearlong anniversary celebration begins October 18, 2014, at Pizzazz, St. Vincent Charity's signature fundraising event. But before that happens, St. Vincent Charity Medical Center is getting the conversation started on social media to celebrate being one of Cleveland’s legacy institutions by sharing photos, videos, stories and links from its history and from today.

The new video gives viewers a glimpse into St. Vincent Charity and its relationship with the city of Cleveland.

A ministry of the Sisters of Charity Health System, St. Vincent Charity Medical Center was founded in 1865 by the Sisters of Charity of St. Augustine.

Long before the American workplace widely accepted women in professional roles, the Sisters of Charity of St. Augustine were directing major health care institutions, teaching in schools and developing new programs to provide needed human services. The first Sisters of Charity of St. Augustine in America served as the first public health nurses in Cleveland, Ohio. In 1851, they began an enduring legacy of responsive ministry, creative stewardship and an ongoing quest for social justice that lives on today.
