Nonprofit Spotlight: Prescription Assistance Network of Stark County

WHAT IS YOUR MISSION?
Prescription Assistance Network of Stark County (PAN) provides the most vulnerable individuals with prescriptions and education. The agency collaborates with other health care providers and community organizations to maximize resources and provide effective and efficient services.

HOW DID YOU GET STARTED?
Prescription Assistance Network of Stark County (PAN) is a non-profit agency that was opened November 18, 2002, through initiative grants from the Austin Bailey Health and Wellness Foundation and the Sisters of Charity Foundation. In December of 2009, the the agency opened the second charitable Pharmacy in Ohio. Since opening, the PAN Charitable Pharmacy has filled more than 85,000 prescriptions that have a value of more than $7 million.

Northeast Ohio Medical University (NEOMED) College of Pharmacy and PAN collaborate to provide a pharmacy practice site. The students are learning and practicing pharmacy skills, gaining an understanding of indigent care while providing extensive education, Medication Therapy Management and pharmaceutical services to the clients.

HOW CAN OTHERS HELP?
Prescription Assistance Network of Stark County needs volunteer pharmacists and pharmacy technicians to sort donated medications and to assist the PAN team in providing pharmaceutical services to clients.

WHAT DO YOU NEED MOST?
Donations. A gift of $25 will provide two medications to a resident of Stark County; $120 will provide testing strips and other diabetic supplies to one individual for a full year.

DONATIONS
Donations may be sent to the Prescription Assistance Network at 408 Ninth St SW, Suite 1450, Canton, OH 44707 or online at www.panpharmacy.org.
