Mercy Service League scores a big win for Mercy Dental Services

Mercy Medical Center’s Mercy Service League scored a big win for Mercy Dental Services and General Practice Dental Residency Endowment at its inaugural Souper Bowl fundraising event. Held January 26 at Mercy Health Center Jackson in Massillon, the Souper Bowl attracted more than 150 guests and raised more than $6,700 for Mercy Dental Services, as reported in The Repository.

“The Souper Bowl was the result of excellent teamwork by Mercy Service League,” said Wendy Lichtenwalter, Souper Bowl event chair. “We are grateful for the support of these local businesses and all of those who came out to support our financial pledge to the dental services that Mercy Medical Center provides in our community.”

Attendees enjoyed soup samplings and fresh bread from a variety of local establishments, plus desserts prepared by the culinary art students at Canton South High School and R. G. Drage Career Technical Center. The local establishments competed for top honors, with two taking home silver ladle awards. Basil Asian Bistro earned the Judge’s Award with its Hot & Sour soup and Bella Serra Ristorante & Pizzeria took home the People’s Choice Award for its Tortellini soup.

All proceeds from the event benefit Mercy Dental Services and General Practice Dental Residency Endowment for Mercy Medical Center. Established in 2007 on the hospital’s main campus, Mercy Dental Services and General Practice Dental Residency program addresses our community’s number one unmet health care need – comprehensive dental care – offering a broad range of preventative, cosmetic and restorative dental services for the entire family, in a state-of-the-art facility. Accredited by the American Dental Association, Mercy Dental Services & General Practice Residency program has served more than 35,000 patients since its opening.
