Campaign Launches to take Ohio Medicaid Insurance Extension to the Ballot

Today at the Ohio Statehouse, a coalition of Ohio citizens, community organizations, faith groups, hospitals, businesses, labor unions and others who support extending health care coverage to 275,000 uninsured Ohioans through Ohio’s Medicaid Insurance program launched the Healthy Ohioans Work campaign. The effort seeks to approve Medicaid extension as permitted and funded by federal law. Read more of the campaign’s plan for action in their official announcement.

The Sisters of Charity Health System, which has been a vocal advocate for extending Medicaid in Ohio and South Carolina, is supportive of the citizen-initiated Healthy Ohioans Work campaign. The health system will continue to work with its lawmakers and the broad coalition of partners to advocate for this health policy change. More information on this ballot effort, including opportunities to volunteer and reach out to lawmakers, can be found healthyohioanswork.org.
