Sr. Ignatia Gavin to be Honored at 46th Annual Memorial Mass on March 31

The 46th Annual memorial Mass in honor of Sister Ignatia Gavin, CSA, will be held in St. Patrick’s Church, 3603 Bridge Avenue in Cleveland on March 31, 2012, at 6 p.m. When AA co-founder, Bill Wilson was told of this memorial Mass, he said, “What a wonderful way to pay tribute to those who came before us.” Sr. Ignatia worked with Dr. Bob and Bill W. in the founding days of Alcoholics Anonymous. She admitted patients to St. Thomas Hospital in Akron, Ohio, under Dr. Bob, that needed to safely undergo detoxification and then recovery. She then came to St. Vincent Charity Medical Center in the 1950s to begin Rosary Hall, which was the first hospital unit for the care of persons with the disease of alcoholism.
