Sisters of Charity Foundation of South Carolina Awards $467,937 in Grants

The Sisters of Charity Foundation of South Carolina has awarded 10 responsive grants totaling $467,937 to nonprofit and faith-based organizations across South Carolina.
Responsive grants are designed to address the root causes of poverty using strategic methods that allow the foundation to work closely with grantees and develop collaborative relationships by selectively offering focused technical assistance and more intentional monitoring through site visits. “We believe in these organizations and the work they are committed to every day to address poverty in South Carolina,” said Yvonne Orr, board chair of the foundation. “It is our hope that this funding will help strengthen these organizations, their programs and services as they serve those in need.”
Organizations wishing to apply for funding should visit the foundation’s website, sistersofcharitysc.com, for information on the application process. The next grant application deadline is the first Tuesday in November.

• NorthStar Christian Center Community Outreach - ($60,000) NorthStar Community After-School Academy, Richland County
• Charleston Area Senior Citizens Services, Inc. - ($55,437) Economic Stability Center; A financial planning, tracking and case management service that identifies traditional and non-traditional resources for poor seniors. (Charleston, Berkeley and Dorchester counties)
• City Year, Inc.- ($50,000) Diplomas Now at C.A. Johnson High School (Richland County)
• South Carolina Research Foundation (PASOs) - ($75,000) The Puentes (Bridges) Project (Richland and Lexington counties)
• Family Connection of South Carolina, Inc.- ($42,500) No Parent Left Behind (Allendale, Williamsburg, Lee, Marlboro, Bamberg and Dillon counties)
• Grace Ministries - ($20,000) Project 150 (Georgetown County)
• Trident Literacy Association, Inc. - ($70,000) Mother to Mother Program in the Tri-County (Charleston, Berkeley, Dorchester counties)   
• United Center for Community Care - ($25,000) Unified Services Meeting Critical Needs (Greenwood, Abbeville, McCormick, Saluda, Edgefield and Laurens counties)
• Helping and Lending Outreach Support (HALOS) - ($45,000) Kinship Care Resource and Support Program Home Visitation Project (Charleston County)
• HOPE worldwide - South Carolina - ($25,000)  HOPE worldwide Mentoring Academy (Richland and Lexington counties)
