Mercy Medical Center Opens New Cardiac Diagnostic Department

Mercy Medical Center in Canton, Ohio, recently opened a newly renovated, state-of-the-art Cardiac Diagnostic Department. The new department, located on the second floor of Mercy’s Surgery Center, offers a convenient, comfortable and relaxing setting for cardiac diagnostics, combined with the most up-to-date, high-tech diagnostic equipment available today. Other features include separate outpatient and inpatient procedural areas, and showers for patients.

Some of the procedures performed in the Cardiac Diagnostic Department include:

  • Electrocardiograms
  • Echocardiograms
  • Stress and Pharmaceutical Echocardiograms
  • Transesophageal Echocardiogram
  • Exercise Stress testing
  • Lexiscan Stress testing
  • Dobutamine Stress testing
  • Head-up Tilt Table studies
  • Holter Monitor (24 and 48 hour)
  • 30-day Event Monitor
  • Cardiac PET scans

In addition, Mercy Heart Center was the nation’s first accredited chest pain center and has twice been named to the U.S. News and World Report’s Best 50 Heart Centers. With the nation’s only Emergency Department Cardiac Catheterization lab, Mercy’s Emergency Chest Pain Center holds the world-record STEMI (ST-elevation myocardial infarction) time of seven minutes to stop a heart attack.
