St. Vincent Charity Medical Center and The Legal Aid Society of Cleveland have launched a medical legal partnership (MLP), providing free, on-site services to resolve civil legal issues that impact the overall health of addiction and psychiatric patients. St. Vincent Charity’s MLP program is the first of its kind in Ohio to focus solely on the needs of those in treatment for behavioral health and addiction diseases.

September 2016 marked the beginning of year two of grant funding for the South Carolina Center for Fathers and Families from the Department of Health and Human Services, Administration for Children and Families Grant, with the goal to recruit 500 voluntary participants into fatherhood programs statewide. The center and its multiple fatherhood programs exceeded that goal with 553 voluntary participants enrolled between Sept. 30, 2016 and Sept. 29, 2017.

Fall Fest is the largest annual fundraiser for Light of Hearts Villa and is a celebration of the ministry’s mission as residents, families, friends and staff come together to raise money to benefit the Sr. Helen Scasny,SC Benevolent Fund, which provides for those residents who outlive their financial resources. This year’s Fall Fest was October 8 and the Catholic Diocese of Cleveland published a story about the event on its website.

The 18th Annual Healthy Learners Champions for Children Golf Tournament in Memory of George Younginer tees off October 25 at the Fort Jackson Golf Club in Columbia, South Carolina. The tournament will include a day of golf, food, entertainment, contests and prizes. The much-needed funds will help to support the mission of Healthy Learners.
